Getting Started

Install TrueBookmark, pin it to your toolbar, and take a quick tour of the popup and Manager.

Open the popup with a keyboard shortcut, search by title, URL, or folder, expand folders inline, and navigate with your keyboard.

Filter, sort, and browse your full bookmark library in a table. Select bookmarks for bulk deletion with preview and undo.

Create manual backups, preview and restore without losing existing bookmarks, export as HTML, and manage backup storage.

See a timeline of every bookmark change. Filter by action type, restore deleted items, and rebuild history from older bookmarks.

Find duplicate bookmarks and empty folders. Use auto-select strategies to choose which duplicates to keep, then confirm and undo if needed.

What permissions does TrueBookmark need?: TrueBookmark needs access to your bookmarks for backup, search, and cleanup. It also reads website icons from Chrome's local cache - this stays on your device and never sends your bookmarked URLs to an outside service. It does not request browsing history, tabs, or access to the websites you visit.
Does my bookmark data leave my device?: No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Backups, search indexes, and history are stored on your device using IndexedDB and Chrome storage. Nothing is uploaded.
What happens if I uninstall TrueBookmark?: Your Chrome bookmarks stay exactly where they are. TrueBookmark never moves or copies them elsewhere. Your local backups and search index will be removed, so export any backups you want to keep first.
Can I undo changes?: Yes. Every destructive action (deleting bookmarks, removing duplicates, cleaning empty folders) creates a safety backup first. You get an undo button in the notification toast, and you can always restore individual items from the History tab.
