Browsing Bookmarks
What it does
The Bookmarks tab in the Manager gives you a full table view of every bookmark in Chrome. You can filter by text, sort by column, select multiple bookmarks, and delete them in bulk with a safety backup and undo.
How to open it
- Click the TrueBookmark icon in your toolbar to open Quick Find.
- Click "Open Full Search" at the bottom of the popup. The Manager opens in a new tab with the Bookmarks tab active.
If you had a search query in Quick Find, it carries over to the Bookmarks tab filter automatically.
Filtering bookmarks
- Type in the filter input at the top of the table.
- The table filters in real time (200ms debounce). It matches against the bookmark title, URL, and folder path.
- The counter above the table updates to show how many bookmarks match. For example: "142 of 1,247 bookmarks."
Sorting
Click any sortable column header to sort. Click the same header again to toggle between ascending and descending order.
| Column | What it sorts by |
|---|---|
| Title | Alphabetical by bookmark title |
| Folder | Alphabetical by folder path (for example, "Bookmarks Bar / Tech / AI") |
| Added | Chronological by the date the bookmark was created in Chrome |
Selecting and deleting bookmarks
- Select individual bookmarks using the checkbox in each row, or use the header checkbox to select all visible bookmarks at once.
- A Delete Preview panel appears above the table, listing the bookmarks that will be removed. If more than 6 are selected, the rest are summarized as "...and X more."
- Click "Delete X selected" in the toolbar. A confirmation dialog appears explaining that a safety backup will be created first.
- After deletion, a toast notification appears with an Undo button. Click it to restore everything immediately.
How to undo a deletion
You have two ways to revert a delete:
- Immediate undo: Click the "Undo" button in the toast notification that appears right after deletion. This restores the exact bookmarks to their original folders.
- From History: Go to the History tab and find the "Deleted" entries. Each one has a "Restore" button.
Gotcha: If the original parent folder no longer exists when you undo, TrueBookmark creates a recovery folder in "Other Bookmarks" and restores your bookmarks there. You can then move them wherever you like.
Opening bookmarks
Each row has an external link icon in the Actions column. Click it to open that bookmark in a new tab.
Good to know
- The table shows up to 100 bookmarks at a time. If your filter returns more than 100, a message appears at the bottom: "Showing first 100 of X bookmarks. Use the filter to narrow results."
- The table shows bookmarks only, not folders. Folders are handled in the Organize tab.
- Click Refresh in the toolbar to reload the bookmark list from Chrome if you made changes outside TrueBookmark.
- A safety backup is created automatically before every bulk delete. You can find it in the Backups tab with the "Safety" badge.
