- Introduction
Welcome to TrueBookmark.
Lifehack Labs LLC (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the website located at https://truebookmark.com, the TrueBookmark Chrome browser extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store, and any related sub-domain or API endpoint that links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, “Service”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Unless otherwise defined here, terms have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service.
- How the Extension Handles Your Data
The TrueBookmark Chrome extension is designed to process all bookmark data locally on your device. The following data is created, processed, and stored entirely within your browser using Chrome’s local storage APIs:
- Your bookmark data (titles, URLs, folder structure)
- Backup files and restore history
- Search index and all search queries
- All feature processing results (cleanup, organization, analysis)
- Extension settings, preferences, and activity history
This data never leaves your device. We do not receive, transmit, collect, or have access to any of the above.
The only network communication the extension makes is Pro license verification, which transmits a license key and extension version to our server and receives an active or expired status in response. No bookmark data, search queries, usage statistics, or any other locally stored information is included in this request.
- Extension Permissions
The TrueBookmark extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- Bookmarks: Read and organize your bookmarks for backup, search, and cleanup.
- Storage and Unlimited Storage: Store backups, search index, and settings locally in your browser. Granted silently by Chrome because it does not access personal data.
- Alarms: Schedule automatic backups and weekly summaries. Granted silently by Chrome.
- Commands: Enable keyboard shortcuts for quick access. Granted silently by Chrome.
- Favicon: Read website icons from Chrome’s local cache on your device. This never sends your bookmarked URLs to an outside service to fetch icons. No network requests are made.
The extension does not request and does not have access to: browsing history, active tabs, web page content, or any host permissions. We cannot see what websites you visit, what pages you are reading, or what tabs you have open.
- What We Collect Through the Website
